A Winter Storm Warning goes into effect at noon today and lasts until 6am Wednesday. Snow will start after 1pm today with possible 3-5 inches of heavy wet snow by evening and another 1-3 overnight. Gusty winds of 30-40mph will make travel very difficult tonight into the morning hours of Wednesday with compacted roadways, blowing snow at times. The heavy wet snow like what fell before Thanksgiving could also have issues with trees being weighted down and getting uprooted, powers line with heavy snow could snap and cause power outages just like two weeks ago. The Minnesota State Patrol is reporting that rain, freezing precipitation and snow will fall around the Twin Cities Metro and to the southwest causing hazardous conditions statewide into the night tonight. Please expect delays and use caution if traveling later today with heavy snow and wind expected from Todd, Morrison, Mille Lacs County and to the northeast. The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office reports that on 12-7-2025 at approximately 7:13 pm, their office received a report of a one-vehicle accident at the intersection of 140th Avenue and 20th Street, approximately two miles southeast of Bowlus, MN in Two Rivers Township. According to the Sheriff’s Office, 55-year-old Sean Kelly of Burtrum, MN was traveling north on 140th Avenue driving a pickup pulling a trailer. The trailer began to fishtail and ended up jack-knifing going into the ditch on the east side of the road. The vehicle hit a tree and came to rest at the bottom of the embankment. Kelly was transported to St. Cloud Hospital by Mayo Clinic Ambulance with unknown injuries. Kelly’s 17-year-old juvenile male passenger was treated and released at the scene with minor injuries. The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, Bowlus Fire Department, Bowlus First Response Team and Mayo Clinic Ambulance.
At 5:41 P.M. on December 4, 2025, the Benton County Sheriff's Office received a call reporting a two vehicle T-bone accident at the intersection of Mayhew Lake Rd. and 15th St. N.E. in Sauk Rapids Township. A 2012 Nissan Altima was traveling northbound on Mayhew Lake Rd. being driven by Bradley Thoennes, Age 48, Sauk Rapids, MN. A 2019 Ford Pickup was traveling southbound on Mayhew Lake Rd. driven by Justin Lutze, Age 43, Foley, MN along with passenger Jerry Wilson, Age 32, Cold Spring, MN. Crash investigation indicated that the Nissan Altima attempted to make a left turn to travel west on 15th St. N.E. and was struck by the Ford Pickup. Bradley Thoennes was transported via ambulance to St. Cloud Hospital with life threatening injuries. It was later learned that Bradley Thoennes died from his injuries. Justin Lutze was transported by other means to St. Cloud Hospital with non life-threatening injuries and Jerry Wilson was uninjured. Sauk Rapids Police Department, Sauk Rapids Fire Department, Minnesota State Patrol, and Mayo Ambulance assisted at scene.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating after a fatal domestic-related stabbing early Monday morning. According to a press release, officers were called to an apartment complex on the 1200 block of Washington Memorial Drive in St. Cloud just after 4:00 and found a man who had been stabbed. Life-saving measures were taken at the scene, but he was pronounced dead. The suspect, a 23-year-old woman, was taken into custody without incident and is being held pending charges. No one else was hurt. The man and woman were in a relationship, and police say there is no threat to the public. Identities are not being released.
Authorities were searching for an 11-year-old boy who is missing from his home in Bemidji. Shayne Jacobs was reported as a runaway on Sunday, and was last seen on foot in the area of Moonlight Drive Southwest and Shedhorn Drive Southwest around 4:45pm Sunday. Bemidji police on Monday afternoon reported that Jacobs has been found safe and thanked all who assisted in finding him and getting him back home.
Chuck Zwilling stopped by Little Falls Radio Monday and spoke on Ice Fest coming February 21st and 22nd, 2026 at Green Prairie Fish Lake. Zwilling is getting the word out now for sponsors and donators to the event next year. All items that the sponsors put in are used for the event and getting the items there. As there is no admission for either day, and all proceeds go to the Flyer Pride Backpack Program and Kare Kloset to feed hungry kids. Since the event started this $168,000 has been raised to help the schools programs from all public donations at the event. Tonight snow wind with another 1-2 inches overnight, low dropping to 15. Temps steady Wednesday in the teens dropping to -5 by late evening, wind gusts still 20-30mph during the day. Thursday snow develops high 12 low around -6 with around 1-2 inches of snow on Thursday. Friday light snow early then cold and windy, high 6 above low around -20 with wind chills around -35 into Saturday morning. Saturday sunny cold, high 1 above, low -16.
