Heavy rains on Friday led to a number of accidents around the area. There were three accidents around one hour of time between 10:30-11:30am on Highway 210 from Motley to Brainerd due to the heavy rains in the area. The State Patrol reported three people were taken to area hospitals from those accidents and treated for non serious injuries. Two motorcycles were involved in an accidents around 12:50pm on Highway 115 near the State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls when one cycle struck a pothole and then the railroad tracks near the cemetery and struck the ground. A second cycle tried to avoid the first and lost control off the Highway. The driver and passenger on the cycle were from Mississippi and taken to the local hospital for treatment. The second cyclist was checked at the scene, was from Wisconsin but not hospitalized. Rain totals varied on Friday from over 4+ inches in Crow Wing and Aitkin County, over an inch north of Little Falls to Camp Ripley to just around a tenth of an inch at the Little Falls Airport and 3 tenths in St. Cloud.
Brainerd High School Friday night reported due to a water supply issue the high school will have an online learning today Monday, September 15th and could be longer in the week until the water supply issue is taken care of. The Superintendent stated this was not a safety issue but a water supply issue for Monday and only effects the high school in Brainerd.
Nevis and Princeton schools had to handle a security issue as Nevis student was taken to a juvenile detention center have threatening a school shooting incident in Nevis. The school was in a secure lock down during the time the student was taken into custody there were no injuries. Princeton schools were also asked to have heightened police on hand Friday after a threat was made online, there was no incident reported at the school on Friday as it was in session and the matter is being investigated by police on the threat. Then Friday night police were called to Sartell High School after many parents were informed of a student brandishing a gun at other students at the football game. Police arrived and checked with many students but nothing was found, police believe this many have been a false claim and remind students and parents to not give false information to authorities. There was no incidents reported from the game in Sartell.
Two men were arrested on burglary charges after allegedly burglarizing two Stearns County buildings on Wednesday morning. The sheriff's office got a call just after 6:15 a.m. from off-duty officers on a report of suspicious activity in the area of Riverside North and 27th Street North in LeSauk Township. The location is just north of Sartell. The callers reported a vehicle parked on a field road, along with two men pulling a utility wagon with what appeared to be stolen items in it. Sheriff's deputies and Sartell Police officers responded to the area and set up a perimeter. After several hours of searching, authorities found and arrested 50-year-old Russell Schaefer of Little Falls and 26-year-old Christopher Hiemenz of Sauk Rapids. During the course of the investigation, officers recovered several pieces of stolen property.
City officials are seeking public input on a long-term project to improve safety and traffic flow on the Highway 27 (Broadway Avenue) bridge over the Mississippi River. The plan calls for replacing the bridge, separating the highway from the railroad crossing at the west end of the span, and enhancing safety for all road users. The City of Little Falls, working with the Minnesota Department of Transportation, is using a 2017 feasibility study and federal funding to evaluate alternatives and complete environmental reviews. A final recommendation is expected next summer, with construction targeted to begin in 2030. Residents can learn more and share feedback at an open house Thursday, October 2nd from 5 to 7 p.m. at the City of Little Falls offices, 100 7th Ave. NE.
Heather Layne will perform a free concert at Living Hope Church on Thursday (September 18th) at 6:30pm to celebrate recovery, a story of hope healing and restoration. This is a free event on Thursday night at Living Hope Church north of Little Falls on Haven Road.

Sports- Atlanta defense shut down the Vikings last night as the Falcons win 22-6 at U.S. Bank Stadium. The Vikings host Cincinnati on Sunday at noon. Twins battle back to win with walk off Friday night 9-8 over Arizona after Kody Clemens hit 3 homeruns for the Twins in the game Friday. Saturday Clemens ties the game in the 8th but Arizona wins it with a 3 run 10th to win 5-2 over Twins. Arizona takes the series Sunday 6-4 over Twins. The Twins (65-84) were mathematically eliminated from the playoffs on Saturday and host the New York Yankees tonight at 6pm on Q92 WYRQ. The Minnesota Lynx routed Golden State Sunday 101-72 to take game 1 of the WNBA playoff series, game 2 is Wednesday. California handed the Gopher football team their first lost 27-14 Saturday night on the west coast. High School Football on Friday night saw Pierz go to 3-0, Upsala-Swanville, Royalton, Holdingford goes to 3-0, Pillager and Staples-Motley also picked up wins while Little Falls, Foley and Long Prairie-Eagle lost their matches this past Friday night.
