Minnesota is digging out of a massive winter storm Saturday and Sunday. The heaviest snow fell in southeastern Minnesota where 15-25 inches fell, some areas near 30 inches in Western Wisconsin. The Twins Cities Metro Area saw 9-13 inches of snow, St. Cloud around 6-8 inches in areas toward the Twin Cities. Morrison County did see less snow but around 6 inches fell in the southern part of the county where Little Falls area was around 2-4 inches some more or less in areas. Winds Sunday led to white out and blizzard conditions as winds gusted to 50mph in areas, again around Little Falls winds 15-30mph led to bent over trees, some power outages in areas and blowing snow. Today the cold is back as temperatures are near 0 this morning and winds later today will keep wind chills below zero. More snow in the forecast Tuesday with another 1-3 inches possible in the area. 

The Minnesota State Patrol responded to hundreds of accidents this weekend due to the snow, many reports of vehicles stalled in off ramps and areas of heavy snow. Two 22 year olds died in an accident in Meeker County, roads south of the Twin Cities were closed Sunday into Monday due to poor conditions and many spinouts and accidents. A Little Falls woman was injured around 12:30am Saturday when multiple Morrison County Sheriff Deputies were on a traffic stop in the left lane of westbound Highway 10 just north of 83rd St with their emergency lights activated. 50-year-old Kristie Eich of Little Falls rear ended an unoccupied squad car. Eich was taken to the local hospital with non life threatening injuries. The State Patrol reported that alcohol was suspected at the time of the accidents and is under investigation. 

One person died in a fire on the 7000 block of Dove Street in Breezy Point on Saturday morning according to the Pequot Lakes Fire District and Breezy Point Police Department. The name of the individual is being withheld pending notifications of relatives. Firefighters stated the cause of the fire is under investigation and more information will be released when it becomes available. 

A St. Cloud home was heavily damaged after a fire on Thursday night. St. Cloud fire crews were called to the 5100 block of 40th Street South just after 7:00 p.m. Dispatch indicated the home was full of black smoke and the residents were unable to get out. Fire crews arrived at the scene and found the residents on the front porch with heavy, black smoke coming out of the house. Firefighters and Mayo Ambulance provided medical aid to the residents. Two of the residents were taken to St. Cloud Hospital with unknown injuries. Mutual aid was called in for water and air tank support. Firefighters were able to put out the flames, but not before the fire caused a partial floor collapse. The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the St. Cloud Fire Marshal's Office.

Sports: Congratulations to the Upsala Cardinal boys basketball team beating Nevis 58-56 Friday night and winning the Section 5A Championship. Upsala will be in the state tournament in Minneapolis March 26th at Target Center. Pequot Lakes beat Pierz 73-35 for the Section 7AA Title. Albany beat Melrose 55-35 for Section 6AA Title. Perham beat Staples Motley 66-61 to win Section 8AA Title on Friday night in boys basketball. Seeding for the Boys Tournament is on Tuesday and the games are next week March 24-28th in Minneapolis. Also Congratulations to the Brainerd/Little Falls 15U girls hockey teams that finished 2nd place in their State Tournament this past week in Minnetonka. They beat Eden Prairie 1-0 Friday, Edina 2-1 in overtime Saturday and lost 2-1 to Rochester on Sunday in the championship.
