A reminder from Morrison County Public Works that contracted construction will begin Monday, June 8th on Haven Road, County State Aid Highway 76 on the north end of Little Falls. Motorists will encounter delays on that stretch of road, they will only do one lane at a time meaning the other lane will be open, but lanes will be shifted to traffic which will cause delays during the road work hours. Businesses along the highway are still expected to access to their buildings but there could be delays during again road work hours. This project is expected to last into August before completion. Questions contact Morrison County Public Works at the number 320-632-0121.

A former St. Cloud man facing rape charges in Stearns County has agreed to settle his case. Fifty-one-year-old Nestor Carrillo Martinez was detained at the Texas-Mexico border in May of 2025 when U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers learned he had a felony warrant from Stearns County. Carrillo Martinez was held and extradited from a South Texas jail back to St. Cloud. In May, he pleaded guilty to one count of 3rd-degree criminal sexual conduct by force or coercion through an Alford plea. An Alford plea is where a defendant maintains they're innocent of the crime, but admits the prosecution has enough evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Carrillo Martinez was accused of sexually assaulting his estranged wife in December 2018. Prosecutors will be asking a Stearns County judge to sentence Carrillo Martinez to three years and five months in prison when he's sentenced on August 13th.

One of the vacant buildings on the St. Cloud State University campus that is slated for demolition is a home that was built over 100 years ago. However, campus leaders say they don't have a timeline yet for when the house will be torn down. The Ervin House was built in 1919 by Mary Ervin, the family owned the St. Cloud City Mill. In 1936, the house at 425 1st Avenue South, which was then owned by the Wheelock Whitney family, was acquired by St. Cloud State University. The university dubbed it Carol Hall in the fall of 1940, and a student union opened in the home's basement in 1941. Carol Hall was used as a residence hall into the 1960s. In the fall of 1972, Carol Hall was converted into campus office space. In September 2011, the university officially renamed the building Ervin House to honor the original owners. In March 2020, Residential Life moved from Ervin House to Hill Hall, and the house has been vacant since then. The university says the Ervin House is still part of the long-term demolition plans in the Comprehensive Facilities Plan, but it is not one of its top four priorities that were part of Minnesota State's most recent request to the state legislature for demolition funding. The request included the Performing Arts Center, Engineering and Computing Center, Education Building, and Benton Halls.
