A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect through 8pm tonight Thursday for central and southern Minnesota. Thunderstorms have formed this afternoon starting north of Brainerd all the way south into Iowa. Some producing heavy rains, gusty winds and hail. Storms could become severe at any times then diminish rather quickly through the afternoon and into the evening. Stay tuned to Little Falls Radio for weather related information.
The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office reports that on 4-22-2026 at approximately 3:23 pm, their office responded to a crash involving a motorcycle and a tractor at the intersection of Cable Road and 110th Avenue, approximately two miles southwest of Little Falls, MN in Swan River Township. According to the Sheriff’s Office, 48-year-old James Pendroy of Sauk Rapids, was traveling east on Cable Road on a motorcycle, behind 67-year-old Gerard Waldoch of Little Falls, who was also traveling east while operating a tractor pulling a manure spreader. Pendroy attempted to pass the tractor as Waldoch begin making a left turn to head north on 110 th Avenue. Pendroy collided with the tractor at the intersection. Pendroy was not wearing a helmet and was transported by North Air Care to St. Cloud Hospital with unknown injuries. Waldoch was not injured. The crash remains under investigation. The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by North Air Care and Mayo Clinic Ambulance.
Little Falls Area Schools has named Dave Langerud as its new Activities Director. He will officially begin on July 1. Langerud brings extensive leadership experience from Minnesota school districts, most recently serving in Albert Lea and previously for nine years in St. Cloud. He has a strong track record of expanding student participation, strengthening program quality, and building positive, inclusive school cultures. He is known for building strong relationships with students, coaches, and families while developing leadership opportunities and aligning activities with academic success. Langerud is passionate about helping every student find a place to belong through athletics, fine arts, and clubs. He looks forward to joining the Little Falls community and continuing to grow opportunities for students to participate, compete, and succeed.
A Stearns County home has been destroyed in a fire. The Sheriff's Office says on Tuesday at about 3:20pm, they were called to a fire at 39070 County Road 1 in Le Sauk Township, about one mile north of Sartell. The home is believed to be a total loss. There were no injuries, and everyone got out of the house safely. The Stearns County Sheriff's Office and St. Stephen Fire Department were assisted by the Sartell Police and Fire Departments, Rice Fire Department, Sauk Rapids Fire Department, Holdingford Fire Department, and Mayo Ambulance. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
Cass County authorities are investigating a shooting in Cass Lake that hospitalized a man early this morning. At 2:45 a.m., the Cass County Sheriff’s Office received reports of shots being heard in the Tract 33 housing area in Pike Bay Township in rural Cass Lake. Additional reporters were received that a 39-year-old man arrived at Cass Lake Indian Health Services with a gunshot wound. Deputies responded to the area and started investigating. A vehicle involved in the incident was identified and secured. Search warrants were executed and residences in the area of the incident were searched. The victim was transported from the Cass Lake hospital to another healthcare facility. The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time.
A Longville man suffered life-threatening injuries in a one-vehicle crash east of Walker today. The Minnesota State Patrols says 24-year-old Jacob McKeig was driving an SUV westbound on Highway 200 in Turtle Lake Township when he hit a deer while traveling at a fast speed. The vehicle went out of control after the impact and went off the road to the right, where it hit a road approach and became airborne. The SUV came to rest in the ditch and did not roll. The crash happened just a few minutes after midnight. The State Patrol says McKeig was not wearing a seat belt and was taken to a Sanford Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
